Haywood County Sheriff's Honor Guard

The Honor Guard is a nine man unit equipped with ceremonial dress uniforms and high gloss leathers with no detail or tradition left unattended.  This all volunteer unit drills once per month in the art of pomp and ceremony.  They are capable of fielding a firing party and a bugler.  They are often called on to perform at community events or on patriotic holidays and funerals. 

The poignancy of their performances is never more visible than at the funerals of former or current law enforcement officers.  Honoring centuries old traditions of respect, the Honor Guard provides such services as guarding the casket, palbearers the gun salute, folding of the flag, and the playing of taps.

During these times, the performance of the Honor Guard reminds us of our membership as Deputy Sheriff’s to the larger brotherhood of law enforcement.
