S.E.R.T. (Sheriff's Emergency Response Team) The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team or S.E.R.T. is a twelve man tactical unit consisting of Deputies/Operators and two Paramedics. The team is trained to handle high-risk situations as well as search and rescue, surveillance, and woodland operations. Members train sixteen hours per month and must pass a quarterly physical fitness test. Members must also qualify with a 90% on all weapons carried as opposed to the 80% required for other Deputies (80% is also above the state standard of 70%). Most of the time spent by these Dedicated Deputies in training is volunteer time and much of their specialized equipment is purchased out of their own pockets. |
